Unemployment Tax Laws by State
Part of employers' payroll tax responsibilities is to pay state unemployment taxes to fund unemployment compensation benefit programs. If you are an employer in Alaska, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania, you may also be required to withhold unemployment taxes from your employees' wages.

- a short description of the employment level required to subject you to the state's tax
- the range of the state's tax rates
- the rate assigned to employers not having an experience rating, if available
- the maximum wage amount to which the state's tax applies
