The use of lie detector tests by employers in Nebraska is subject to these state rules.
An employer or prospective employer in Nebraska may not require, as a condition of employment or as a condition for continued employment, that a person submit to a truth and deception examination unless the employment involves public law enforcement.
An employer may ask an employee or applicant to submit to a truth and deception examination if the employee or applicant is given written and oral notice that the examination is voluntary, and that the employee or applicant may discontinue the examination at any time.
